Set up Rendo Kiosk for self-service ordering
Pair a kiosk, prepare its menu and test order numbers, counter payment and supported printing.
Rendo Kiosk lets guests choose dine-in or takeaway, select products and extras, and submit an order for payment at the cashier. A kiosk submission is not a paid sale and does not start preparation.
Payment is at a staffed cashier; unattended card payment on the kiosk is not currently offered.
Before installation
Agree the separate kiosk allowance and supported touchscreen with Rendo. Kiosk licences are per device and do not replace the POS plan's preparation or printer limits. Review plans and modules. The Windows kiosk and cashier have separate installers; use the approved one for the device.
Pair and test
- In the intended Admin location, open Devices → Pair kiosk and create a one-time code.
- Open the approved Rendo Kiosk application or managed kiosk browser on the touchscreen and enter the code.
- Verify the business, location and language. Configure the location's kiosk appearance in Admin where permitted.
- Try a complete basket with sizes, required choices and sold-out products. Confirm dine-in/takeaway and the final total.
- Submit a test order. Check its number at the kiosk and cashier, then confirm payment at the cashier before preparation and pickup.
In the Windows application, an authorized administrator configures a supported printer or explicitly chooses screen-only operation. Its optional order-reference slip tells the guest how to pay at the counter. It is not a payment receipt or fiscal receipt. Browser-only kiosks show the order number without native printing.
Daily use and maintenance
The idle basket warns before clearing after two minutes; a guest can keep ordering. Successful order confirmation returns to the start after 20 seconds or when the guest finishes. The device restores the location's default language for the next guest.
On Windows, staff open maintenance with Ctrl + Shift + F12. Administrator sign-in is required after pairing, and guest ordering pauses during maintenance. Use Devices in Admin to suspend or archive a kiosk. Archive revokes its pairing; a new device needs a new code.
Launch checklist
Test the actual touchscreen, printer, restart, internet loss and staff recovery process. Browser checkout requires connectivity; the managed Windows app has a different recovery flow. Ask Rendo to verify the installed version's behavior. OS lockdown and launch after reboot require separate setup and real-device testing. Integrated kiosk card-terminal payments are not part of this pay-at-counter guide.
