Opening a shift
Count the opening drawer and start the correct register shift.
Before opening
Confirm your name, location, register, currency and operating date. Check the terminal and printers before accepting orders.
Open
- Select Open register.
- Count the actual cash in the drawer.
- Enter Opening cash in the displayed currency; enter zero only if the drawer is empty.
- Review and confirm.
- Check the shift number, cashier and opening time.
An open shift is required for cashier orders, payments and cash movements. It records the person responsible for the drawer.
Signing out does not close the register. Use shift reconciliation for a proper handover.
