How shifts and operating days work

Understand rollover, overdue shifts and unpaid-order blockers.

An operating day follows the location's timezone and configured rollover time, which defaults to 04:00. It is not always the calendar date.

Active and overdue shifts

An open shift is needed for cashier orders, payments and cash movements. If the operating day rolls over while it remains open, it becomes overdue. Normal new orders, new rounds, cash movements and opening another shift are blocked until it is reconciled and closed.

Unpaid balances

Live unpaid orders block normal closure. Staff table orders remain unresolved while they have an unpaid balance, even if an older record says completed. Expired and cancelled terminal orders are different from unpaid active tables.

Use the listed blocker actions and table payment recovery to resolve existing balances. Recovery is not permission to start new service.
